hole in the road, house painting and grandsons
I have not been idle.….….….well no more than usual.…..well i have had a lot of indolent moments but the summer was taken up with grandsons of assorted sizes…they seem to like staying here, heavens knows why because i am way too selfish to spoil them in any way and grump quite a lot.
what a fast year this has been , i remember my grandmother saying that but now i see what she meant.…and she used to say
” you’ll appreciate me when I’m gone”.…..now as a ‘granny’ i do appreciate her allowing us to invade her life.
so
what has been happening.
Nicola finally got the keys to her house and all the stuff was moved in…well not all the stuff Pickford’s, try as they might …and they did try, even removing the lounge door…were unable to get the sofa in to the lounge. so it went into the garage ‚fortunately tom…remember Tom of my extensive building works… Tom had been asked to make some repairs to the new house as water was getting in in a couple of places.…..we did know about that before buying.….….……anyway…where was i . ah yes Tom and his brother took down a ugly , useless garden wall and they got it through the patio doors.
the wee boys stayed at my house for a wee while, and then went to the other grand parents while we painted their bedrooms…they objected to lilac coloured walls… and peach colours…the rooms a now a nice boyish blue..
there is a hole at the end of the drive ..it has been there for weeks,
Scottish water came, dug it , put a plastic cover on it and went away.….….….getting in and out are difficult.…i have scraped the side of my car on the stone gate post.…..i might get cross soon.
i think up all sorts of things to put on ths blog but such is the state of my brain the things fly from it never to be recalled.….…so it continuses to be a mundane record of the life of a wee sccottish widow.….…4 and a half years now…took a rose up to him on our anniversary .
my house looks like a jumble sale…i am selling things for a great niece to fund her trip to do good things in Peru…and selling things for a cousin and selling a
chandelier for him upstairs.….….…we just want enough to buy a good bottle of wine for that one.….….….…:-)
My brother was over from Denmark, this time bringing 7 Danes with him, we had a very jolly evening here…i need a bigger dining table.… and we all went for a Glasgow buffet curry on another night.
scooped up Cameron and took him through to the Edinburgh festival fringe as he had never been.…excellent fun. his insulin pump has been a wonderful improvement in the management of his diabetes, the first few weeks were scary and exhausting for them all as his mother had to check his blood sugar ever two hours at night… and worrying as he was to go to orchestra camp.…..but apart from some very low sugars all has gone well. His pump comes with a soft toy called Lennie lion which he is supposed to put it in at night…he has his pump in a pocket sewn into his PJ’s .…..so we take Lennie all over the place and photograph him
, there is now a page on face-book dedicated to Lennie lion and his adventures, much enjoyed by the younger children with type 1 diabetes all over the world.
right, I am hungry now due to some lawn mowing and tree pruning today…which reminds me…how many daughters’ can phone their mothers and ask to borrow her axe.….…..as did Nicola last week
