undagnosed type diabetes in the young

I wonder how many children diagnosed with ADHD or are written off as badly behaved actually have undiagnosed type 1 diabetes, perhaps blood sugar should be tested in all children.…..i have been talking to a guide leader recently who said that an awful child had become really likeable after her type ! was diagnosed and her sugar regulated.
i know that if i forget to have lunch while out shopping i get short tempered with people who do not have their money ready at the till point.

just a thought

Phones and Fortunato

When i was wee we were lucky to have a phone, my father was the local Medical officer of Health and a GP so needed one. but my grandmother shared her line with a neighbour it ws called a ‘party’ line and if you lifted the receiver you might hear somebody else talking on the tline and you had to wait till they finished.

I am a solitary type and like my quiet, so , when i was talking to My younger daughter a few minutes ago and her land line rang with another call for her , i got to thinking,

I have four of the blooming things
a land line, a ‘soft’ phone attached to my hub with a separate number, a cell phone and i have credit with skype so that i can call landlines and mobiles from my ipad or computer

this seems slightly insane.……bu then i have two computers and an ipad on at the moment so it might be me that is insane.

went to visit Ex husband Fortune ( Mark) Visocchi yesterday as my old school friend and ex sister in law Sheena Steven (Blair) from Enochdhu.now edinburgh…was staying with me overnight.….…..we had a great old gossip.…..we are such opposites he and i, he lives his life to a rigid timetable and is astonished when i tell him i decide what to do when i get up in the morning…so readers from Blairfolk who knew him as a wee laddie he is doing well here in Glasgow surrounded by our excellent daughters and is very cheerful.was going to put his photo here but can’t see how to anymore

helpless to do anything

I held her upright in her chair,my wet hair dripping down my neck, her breathing stopped two or three times, and there was not a thing i could do to help but hold on to her.

Having decided long hair made me look like a bag lady, i went to cousin Rosalyn’s salon for a hair cut, the usual banter was going on , hoots of female laughter, when a young woman in the next chair starts to choke…we all knew she has a tracheotomy tube to help her breath and we knew she can drown very quickly if water gets into the tube so great care had been taken.…what we didn’t know was that she needs a suction pump every so often to clear the tubes and if she starts to cough the tube comes out .
Roslyn ran across the road for a doctor, the assistant dialled 999 and i held on to the breathless young woman.two doctors and a nurse ran over to us, but who keeps suction pumps . they did what they could with oxygen and an ambulance and a car full of paramedics arrived within a very few minutes with much needed pump.….…so all is well.

so sombody out there please design a portable suction pump .

afterwards we were all very shaken.…It brought back the last few hours of Basil’s life … 5 years ago on February 7th.…..so i am sitting wrapped up in a blanket feeling exhausted.

Otherwise my quiet life is still quiet

21 today…X 3">21 today…X 3

Having an excellent birthday,

i have been quiet because nothing happens much in my life.…well it does but it is much the same as in everybody else’s life.

we have survived gale force winds, snow and ice and it is now just cold and damp.

i tempted fate buy buying up all sorts of common cold remedies before Christmas and then saying ‘bring it on’ to the universe .…so of course on boxing day the common cold hit me , but all over now and i shall be more respectful of the ‘unseen’ forces :-)

So
The saga of the hole in the drive went on.….and on.…and on.
they dug it , filled it up. dug more of it , filled that up.…..took photos, decided it wasn’t deep enough and dug it up again blocking me in the house two weeks before Christmas unable to bet in and out with festive food parcels.……but at last, on Christmas eve, after over two years messing about they finished it and took away all their stuff.….yippee.

catered the camera club party with one days warning, …got a phone call from club president saying can you cater the party on Thursday…i cant i said ’ i am going to the camera cub party’.….….oh oops ‘yes i can’

so Him upstairs and i swooped on makro.….….and bought stuff.….….…..then asked the budget.….. ‘approx £1 per head.….a challenge or what.…..but we got it done.

saw stuff in asda…£ 1.50 each or £3 for two.…i had to think about that one

Ebay has annoyed me because you cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer…i posted things to a couple of p[eople before they had payed because i didn’t want to stand in post office queues for each one.…..their feed back was 100% positive.….later i read the feed back and it said they ordered but didn’t pay, but those buyers and me were unable to label it negative feed back.…..be warned.

Our Family continue to keep Tom the builder going.….…as Marisa’s boys are now both over 6ft tall they take up a lot of room if you add their enormous friend and several musical instrument into the mix so they have applied for planning permission to add a couple more rooms to their house.….….and Nicola had had Tom making their lovely new house water tight.……well it will be soon, the gales showed up a few wee problems but that wasn’t unexpected.

it is nice having all the boys so close.….….…the grandsons , not tom the builder and his boys…though they are good fun too.

Him upstair’s romance goes on apace.…they went to Kenya ..brought me back coffee, yum.

Garlic with no separate cloves, just one big bulb…how cool is that.

Basil still in thoughts, one of his grand daughters is doing a portrait of ‘an old person’ for a school project . so i was looking out photos.….some i had taken on a fast shutter looked as though he was moving when i flicked through them.…..nice in an odd way.

I have bought an Air fryer.….….it is wonderful, bung a slice of something tasty or some skampi in it turn a dial and wait.…..so chrisp and hot …even makes frozen chips taste good.…huge differences in price though so if tempted ‚shop around.

got to finish now as it is my birthday so i need no excuse to watch rubbish telly today.
