technology

well i was going to write that i have been having a great day technology wise, but it has been ganging up on me again.
I was having trouble a couple of days ago downloading an audio book to my ipod.…..i love audio books they put me to sleep at night, though sometimes they keep me awake if they are interesting, i tend to get science ones in the hope of boring myself to sleep.
anyway i got a free one on audible.co.uk. and couldn’t get it to work , so i defragmented my laptop having remove hundreds of photos. and left it a couple of days and today it uploaded instantly and no problem at all.

and even better , i bought new house phones.….as opposed to cell phone.. there are four handsets and i knew it contained a sim card reader, but hadn’t realised what a boon that is.
instead of having to enter the fifty or so numbers i might need into each handset, i just made sure they were all on the sim card in my mobile. put the sim card into the main base, sat each handset in turn on it and hey presto , they now all contain names and numbers.….……him upstairs promptly used his soft phone (bt vision broadband).…..just to confuse me as i didn’t recognise th number.
and you can send text messages with it.

all that was earlier.

i cannot get flash player to download, i have tried the registry fix but still it wont load, i am hoping turning off the computer might work,

Smoked sausage anyone ?

Smoked sausage anyone ?

hot

I am hiding indoors from the sun , did some gardening this morning till i fell of the garden steps, twisting the broken ankle, that put an end to the gardening,
then tried to wash the earth of the patio with the hose pipe only succeeding in spattering mud every where. did manage to get a washing dry on an old fashioned clothes horse, my whirligig being down till a new place is built for it.

free-a-treetwo very ugly and giant conifers were removed today , one was growing up through a beautiful sycamore, it looks so much better now and i will plant a mature tree in the place of the other, having fun choosing what tree, i like trees to feed either me or the birds so i might go for a Stella cherry and also i am thinking of a morello cherry espaliered on my north facing garden wall.
they must have hit it a huge whack, i didn’t hear it but the builder rang the bell and handed me the house number that usually is attached to the stone pillar at one side of the drive, it is now in three pieces on a pile of soil. they might as well wait till the end now as it makes the drive easier for the delivery lorries.oops
got new house phones today so once they are charged up is shall have to spend a while loading in all the phone numbers, at least the handsets all communicate with each other so i only have to do it once. cos there are four of them.….well i can never find one when they ring.
free sharers have given me a fireguard and a folding pushchair this week.…needed fireguard as the last one i go had a side missing,
went to the wonderful Emrico sale yesterday morning, there was a huge queue and i nearly went home as my ankle was aching but was glad i stayed because i bought two outfits for weddings and a dress, a skirt and three sun tops all for £58, which is about a quarter of what one wedding outfit would cost.
the fun bit of all this building is i get to drive all over my front lawn.…after yelling at people for years for ruining the edge of it by careless driving,

gone

goneAnd there it was .…gone garage down. rubble away ‚ground prepared for making of a paved area for my whirly gig as it used to be beside the now gone garage. these builders are so neat, tidy and fast and cheerful i am deeply impressed.

food has arrived via tesco online, one thing i have learned having this broken ankle is.….be careful when ordering food online.i have ended up with one banana, one onion and one satsuma.

and another thing i have learned these last few weeks is the car locks itself just as you reach for the door handle. you gather yourself together crutch on each arm and purse hung round your neck ‚you press the key to unlock the door dangle the keys from any finger not gripping the crutch and launch yourself at the car. only to hear it go ‘clunk’ as it automatically locks itself because you have taken all of four seconds to get to it.

friendof-foeupstairs dogs having a ‘friendly’ over something the diggers unearthed

roofI offered my old garage roof on free share and there were five people wanting it as they all had old leaky Marley garages with asbestos roofs these guys were the first to ask, one of them was building himself a garage and was delighted to get it, so glad it didn’t go to landfill.

going going gone

how-to-dig-the-garden

How to dig a garden, all those hated laurel and rhododendron bushes gone , the laurel is poisonous and makes my skin all red and hot and the rhododendron is a weed introduced into Scotland years ago , i shall replace them with something indigenous.

I was so tired last night, it was as if i had done all the digging myself, when in fact i sat in my bay window and as the builders brought junk out of my garage i waved the crutch towards the skip or the save pile.a good laugh was had as some strange things emerged..

goingit took hardly any time at all to reduce the hated ugly garage to a heap of rubble, i feel so liberated, it was like a dank dark weight on me.
it is an odd thing but now the thick shrubs are remove from the front garden the house now looks bigger and more elegant.
and i am going to have to do something useful in the house instead of playing computer games all day because i can’t possibly waste time while being observed by large men working hard from 8.a.m.

all-that-is-leftnot that i am wasting time on this laptop, i have ordered food having run out of basics again, and i have ordered a green cone, it is an amazing thing , like an iceberg the largest part is buried underground and you put all kitchen waste, cooked food ‚bones everything in it and it disappears into the soil under it and feeds the plants , even better than a compost bin, pretty soon i shall have nothing put out for the binmen, as it is my bin has hardly anything in it as Glasgow collects , paper, metal, plastic and garden waste for recycling.

Right I am off to look busy now

Earth moving

I am resisting temptation......there is earth moving equipment in my front garden and i have the keys.

I am resisting temptation.…..there is earth moving equipment in my front garden and i have the keys.

yukky-garageScottish heritage objected to my removing this hideous leaky garage and cost me time and money defending my wish to replace it with one that matches the lovely house i am lucky enough to live in.….……they hadn’t even seen it they just objected on principle that change is all bad.…..seriously pissed me off.….common sense prevailed though
