I am look­ing more and more like my mother every day, it is a shock to catch sight of myself reflec­ted in shop windows.…..that photo of a swan is apro­pos of noth­ing i just happened to take the pic on a walk in the local park this week.

still feel­ing ill , no idea what it is but it is time it fixed itself i have things to do.

I was con­vinced i would not like it, i bought it and left it lying , then i played it once and thought , that is too raw. then i put Neil diamond’s latest CD ‘home before dark’ on and played it con­stantly for three days …it it great , one of his best , it is mature and tells a story of a life.and the songs have a rel­ev­ancy to the lives of many of older people who have lived a bit.

half an apple pie

i had to make an apple pie in self defence , the apple tree has been throw­ing apples

heaps of apples

at me for some days and i have to race the wee beast­ies to them in the morning.….…..that pic­ture is only half a pie the rest hav­ing been eaten while hot. i saw Nigella Lawson make one like it but didn’t have the sound on so i was not sure of how to do it or what was in it but it tasted great. .….… I flung some but­ter and sugar in a fry­ing pan filled it with roughly chopped , peeled apples stirred it about a bit. put it in a heat proof dish and draped bits of filo pastry all over it, bunged it in the oven at about 210 degrees till it was brown. ate with cus­tard.….… yummy.

feel­ing ill today, there was a new mem­ber of the cam­era club cough­ing all the way through last Thursdays meeting.….should have stayed at home and kept his germs to him­self. grrr.

I shall go to bed early with a hot toddy.……makes it all worth it does a hot toddy.

I don’t think i am entirely sane.….……I have been clean­ing out my cup­boards, well the sun was out and shamed me into some house­work, any­way, cups and mugs , cup­boards full of them .…thin ones , thick ones, small ones and large ones, i keep buy­ing them , but no more.

And drink­ing glasses , way too many of them.

i am stay­ing away from shops.

miss­ing him like hell today.

Basil Loved Eddi Reader’s singing. we had sev­eral of her Cd’s and saw her on TV but we never saw her live, i don’t know whether i should go and see her or will it upset me to be going without him.
