back in sunny glasgow

drove up yesterday, a good journey, bought a Marks and Spencer salad and a smoothie in a motorway shop and a cappuccino coffee from a vending machine and ate it outside in the sun somewhere up the M6.

?washing is done, spoken to everybody related to me, and have been giving a second coat of paint to the kitchen door before it gets hung.….……it took longer to put the masking tape on the 15 panes of glass than it did to paint it, i had put the undercoat on the night before driving down south and had to resist doing the second coat the morning i left.now i had better go and buy some food. the old door was horrid, it looks ok in this photo but it is a very insubstantial thing with old fashioned bathroom window glass in it, the one i have bought in B&Q almost matches some of the other doors in the house.

covent garden again

went back to Covent Garden to the market this time. we .…..Abby, Esther and?I .…..went by underground train to Leicester square and? walked the rest of the way. stopping for lunch on the way. bought some lovely things in the market? was saddened by? a pair of? enamel cuff-links with the name Basil on them as i had never seen anything with his name on and now it was too late, i nearly bought them anyway, had a lovely chat with the lady who was doing the enameling? though.

we ordered a Chinese meal to be delivered ‚30 minutes they said? but after an hour it hadn’t turned up so we phoned , then again half an our later, then we gave up and made a wonderful omlet? , the Chinese stuff finally arrived after 2 hours so we sent it away.

?on Sunday we drove to westcliff-on-sea.jpgWestcliff-on-sea to celebrate? Ian’s mums 88th birthday? and had a typical Sunday lunchlunch1.jpg at the Westcliff hotel with live music in the background.it was lovely to see the sea.

that night the girls hadn’t seen independence day so Abby went out to hire it but as i was only ?3 to buy she bought it and we had a lovely girls night in watching it and eating french fries and Greek salad..

all change

from one extreme to the other.….…. .from two small boys to two teenage girls, i am in London coming via the Swindon outlet center where i collected a nice haul of carrier bags full. .….well that was Christopher’s idea when he heard we were going to the Royal Ballet? at Covent Garden to see sleeping beauty on Thursday night he asked if i had something nice and floatyhaul.jpg to wear .…a great excuse to go shopping

the ballet wassleeping372.jpg beautiful, so were the smoked salmon sandwiches and champagne we had in the interval as well, that was because? the traffic was so bad that we arrived with minutes to spare and had only time for? one of our sandwiches before it started so they wrapped them in cling film for us and put our name on the champagne bottle.

today we have been doing girl things like girly-things.jpghair straightening etc.….….…..so unlike small boys.…except when they squabble.

the quiet of sleeping babies

through-the-playroom-door.jpgone forgets? just how wonderful that time of day is when the children have gone to sleep.….….….even though they are good wee boys, the usual bits of stroppyness aside, the constant high energy level is exhausting, but oh how lovely it was when they were suddenly asleep. they are just like the baby foxes that mock fight on my lawn in the spring, they roll about the floor seemingly beating? each other to a pulp, screeching and giggling ?but neither gets hurt unless he lands on a sharp forgotten toy.?

there is a lovely terrace being built in the back yard made of wonderful coloured natural stone new-terrace.jpgin this photo the guy laying it has just hosed it down so all the colours show.
