2008 GDPU Exhib­i­tion Newsletter

Res­ults now in! On Sunday 13 Janu­ary 2008 the judging of all sec­tions of the GDPU Exhib­i­tion was held in Neth­er­ton Com­munity Centre, Wishaw. The Club and Begin­ners sec­tions were judged by Richard Speirs DPAGB from Mor­ton PS in Carl­isle. Richard is an exec­ut­ive mem­ber of the North­ern Counties Fed­er­a­tion, judge, lec­turer and PAGB Awards selector.

The GDPU organ­iz­a­tion once again was com­men­ded with Richard speak­ing on behalf of the three judges by stat­ing that ” the organ­iz­a­tion and hos­pit­al­ity left noth­ing to be desired!” Con­tinue Reading »

It is sooo cool, i entered a photo in a com­pet­i­tion , there were thou­sands of entries. i got a “highly com­men­ded” and my pic­ture will be on dis­play in Princes Square ‚Glas­gow till 10 th March, it is definately there till 3^rd March.….……i am all excited about it.….….….….i think it is called the GDPU exhib­i­tion http://www.gdpu.co.uk/

I am in Chip­pen­ham with younger daugh­ter and her fam­ily we are going to cen­ter parcs Nor­mandy soon,

hav­ing sat up half the night while Gor­don listened to the cricket on the radio and read about the rugby on the Inter­net, i delivered him to Queen st sta­tion so he could visit some friends in Edinburgh.….……he is stay­ing for a few more days but? the Nor­mandy trip was already booked.….….….….……and thought well i might as well get going as we are stay­ing the night in Poole (Dor­set) tomor­row night , the ferry being at an ungodly hour on Fri­day morn­ing. i was wor­ried that if i drove down tomor­row there might be a hold up.

young Aiden (4) was startled to find me in his kit­chen when he sneaked back down after he was put to bed.….i had timed it so that they would be in bed already as did not want to get them over excited.

i might take this laptop with me in case there is a wi fi hot spot in the middle of a french forest.

I think i may have inhaled a nano-particle or two, who would have thought that human ashes could float away so fast on hardly any wind, it was time to scat­ter my mother’s ashes to the four winds.

We drove today , my brother , my niece,nephew and nephew’s Span­ish girl­friend to a beauty spot bey­ond Loch Lomond up a steep hill to a place called ’ rest and be thank­ful’ we thought it a great name for a last rest­ing place and it was a spot she loved.

It was a beau­ti­ful blue day and the lochs looked wonderful.….….….…..i man­aged to for­get my cam­era, per­haps she hid it so that the day would be about her and not my hobby of tak­ing photographs

What is it with Lin­lithgow and food on a Monday night.….….….….….…having col­lec­ted my brother from prestwick we went to Bo’Ness where his son lives and was-waiting with his girl­friend and sis­ter, hav­ing done all the usual greet­ings and cups of tea things we go in search of food, there is a great place? between Bo’ness and Lin­lithgow that does won­der­ful food but it was full and there wasn’t going to be a table for ages so we decide to go t Lin­lithgow where there is a pleas­ant Italian res­taur­ant, we get there, we even get parked at the door, in we troupe all? five of us, sorry they said we don’t have a chef tonight,? so we find another res­taur­ant , sorry they said this is a private meet­ing, we want to try the pub as it looks good but they stop serving food at 8 p.m. and it is now 8:15, we are hungry Gor­don , on Dan­ish time is even more hungry, there is an empty eat­ing place? near the pub, we don’t like the look of it , why is it empty when the good place is full and there is nowhere else to eat, but we go in , we sit down, the pro­pri­etor stops watch­ing telly, gives us a menu, we choose, my nephew heads for the loo, on his way there he passes the kit­chen and sees the ‘chef” heav­ing out a great gob of spit? .…no telling where it landed.….…we walked out.

but all ended well as by that time there was a table avail­able at the good place.…and ooh! the food was good……i think it was called ‘the chop and ale­house’ not sure about that though, them we took them back to Bo’ness and Laura back to Edin­burgh arriv­ing home here at midnight.

I have been quiet for a few days but i have not been idle.….….well not all the time.

Valentine’s day was interesting.

at the week­end i decided to build …well go to Ikea and get a flat pack.….….……a set of draw­ers to go under my fridge and freezer to raise them up to? a bet­ter height?. so? i meas­ure up care­fully and col­lect a HEAVY box.….….…i empty the box in the car as it is way too heavy to carry into the house or even get out?of the car. i have an enjoy­able time put­ting it all together des­pite feel­ing very ill due to eat­ing some­thing i have a sens­it­iv­ity to, well i was hav­ing an enjoy­able time till i turned blue, any­way i get it all together and IT DOSNT FIT.….….…..so much for my visual spa­tial? expertise.

so i get him upstairs to meas­ure it all for me and we both set of to Ikea again, and get a nicer set of drawers?which will fit the space per­fectly and it does. for­tu­nately i love put­ting flat packs together.….though i did put the drawer run­ners in upside down.

and, the first set of draw­ers make a lovely seat in the dining-room , i had been look­ing for a chair but this is bet­ter, and there are the draw­ers in to for me to clut­ter.this is the second time i have typed this today as the first one disappeared

off to Prestwick air­port now to col­lect brother
