got a new camera

Went uptown yesterday because i had bought a cardigan in John Lewis and when i went to put it on i discovered the security thing was still attached, i was cross because i didn’t want to schlep uptown again.…anyway uptown i schlepped and the assistant took off the thing and i said that i was bit peeved because apart from the waste of time it also cot me ?3 parking, so she gave me the three pounds so i am impressed with John Lewis.…then i bought a bathing costume so they got their profit anyway…though it was half price in the sale.

while uptown i decided that if i was going to take photography seriously i should get a camera with a good lens so i got a Panasonic with a leica lens the pic above is the first one i took with it,there are all sorts of things on it to get used to, that will keep me out of mischief for a while.

meanwhile i have the symptoms of the common cold again, i never used to catch so many , it must be something to do with Christmas and feeling a bit down. however dance/exercised for much longer today.

which charity trek for Hope in 2008 ?

  • Marrakech and Mount Toubkal (Morocco)
  • Kerry Way (Ireland).
  • Grand Canyon Challenge again

Neil Diamond made me cry

http://www.neildiamond.com/index2.html

I was doing fine, felt i had got through the festive season quite well and thinking that was it , and i would be OK now, dancing about the house i was , getting fit for the next challenge, been uptown ‚bought a swimsuit, then a song on a Cd i had been dancing to called 12 songs by Neil Diamond, the song was called Hell yeah , it was the last verse about did he know he would be missed .….….….that was it .…tears streaming down my face, if it had been in a movie it would not have looked real. .….….….. i could see during the Christmas time why people end it all or take an accidental overdose of sleeping pills, sometimes you wonder why wait about, but i did not feel as bad as that , i could just see why people felt like it. .….. anyway i am mostly cheerful so worry ye not.

Neil Diamond has been there all my life, providing a soundtrack for it.….…?I fell for him when i was 13.…didn’t know the song i so enjoyed was really about bottled beer ( crackling Rosie) . i had my best moments with him singing in the background, there was always a song for how i felt and now he is ageing at the same speed as me and his music reflects it. twice he was here in Glasgow but both times Basil was in hospital and there was only the hour visiting time at night and he so looked forward to my visits (i had to be the first visitor in or he was worried )?that i wouldn’t have missed one , so i missed Neil diamond instead, i contented myself with playing Cd’s loudly in the car on the way to the hospital and singing loudly, people must have thought me mad.….…Nicola tried to get tickets for his London visit this summer but we were too late , i have signed up for his newsletter now so we wont miss the next tour if he manages another one

wet, windy and worrying

As a child? i loved stormy weather and still love to lie in my bed listening to the storm and feeling safe.…but.….….as a homeowner? one lies there thinking,’ how far away? is that? huge tree’ and? ‘is the car out of the line of trajectory? of any flying roof tiles’.….….once? Basil sent me out to move the car in the middle of the storm,it wasn’t till later i thought of the danger i had been in, two tiles were embedded in the lawn to the depth of 4 inches, and one dented the car?roof? and gouged a?bit out of the back window,.….?in the event the gale last night only??? sent one roof tile onto the ground and it missed the car by a meter.

I have been doing the dance exercise, well i got as far as the warm up exercises but? i did them twice :-) )…small?? steps will get me there. then i slept for half an hour this afternoon as the night had been? noisy with the wheelie bins blowing around the garden?.

? I am told by him upstairs that you have to remove the Christmas decorations? by 12 night because the fairies brought in on the holly and the tree get restless and impish after that causing all sorts of trouble.

this pic is a view of him upstairs on his mobile phone on my front doorstep as seen by my security camera

remember self defrosting freezers

have not been idle despite my usual indolence, in order to help with the sleep thing i have been getting up at a proper time in the morning no matter how tired i am and going out all over the place. and also going to bed at a reasonable hour.….…i am determined to get it sorted…AND.….…..last night having visited Ikea in search of a couple of cupboards to fit under the new fridge an freezer when they come.…..i went and got the strictly come dancing DVD so i can get fit by learning the salsa, jive, cha cha cha, quick step and samba plus some warm up and cool down exercises. have even done a bit of it today

so this morning i went uptown into John Lewis and looked at fridges and freezers.…i wanted a freezer that defrosts itself, interestingly most manufacturers don’t make them any more as they need more space for the fans that keep them frost free so People wont buy them it is 5cm wider than the others so i came home to measure the space again just to be sure then ordered them from the johnlewis website. i will wait till they arrive before i fit cupboards around them as i need to be sure of air circulation .

yesterday while driving beside the M77 i saw three deer grazing right beside the motorway, knowing the height that deer can jump i thought i would contact someone in case they had escaped from somewhere.….….….nobody seemed to care ‚so if any accident is caused by cars hitting large animals at 50mph it is not for want of my trying to warn people.

one of the lovely bonuses of having fitted my surveillance camera over my front door is that i can hear the bird song while sitting inside my house.

Twelfth night

twelfth night and down came all the decorations, the house looks so different without them i shall miss all the lights but it is nice and tidy again.

a friend today remarked that i was good at doing general repairs around the house, and how and why did i learn it all, they seemed to think it funny when i said that if they had ever been chased around the bidet by a randy plumber they too would have taken steps never to need a workman in the house unless absolutely necessary.

excused fish feeding duties tonight as him upstairs is on his way back from the snowy Lake District

hungry now time for dinner.….….whatever that may be.….…i really should go food shopping, the last time i went out of the house was on new years eve to buy milk.……still haven’t been on a fridge and freezer hunt.
