2007">the last half hour of 2007

They are taking it in turns the grandchildren, one or other of them has been on the phone since about 19:00, i hate to think of their parents phone bills it is amazing what young people can find to talk about for an hour and a half at a time, one of them..the 13 year old is on at the moment singing to me .….….….

I am very lucky in my family and friends, i have been invited to London, Israel, the lake district, Edinburgh and all points north ‚tonight and tomorrow, but i want to see this year gone and done with.….….…the third death was yesterday in the person of a favourite cousin of Basil’s a really delightful man and eccentric scientist, there are not enough people in the world like him .

half an hour of it to go, i shall have some vodka and fresh orange juice, and go to bed.….……or just the orange juice and go to George square to see all the people.

Happy new year to everybody

read the label

Having no responsibilities other than the feeding of the upstairs fish twice a day, I decided I should become artistic the results being the above pic of Nathan aged 2.

And Aiden aged 4

And Cameron aged 11

And Peter aged 14

Himself always told me to read the labels of any medicine i was taking or doling it out and I always made sure that if it was paracetamol I wanted that was what it said on the label and a quick scan of contents in case there was aspirin in it, aspirin causes me a lot of grief.……anyway. .….…..I have been sleeping much worse than usual and usual is pretty bad, I had come back from m visit to grandchildren with a heavy dose of the common cold, which left me with blocked sinuses so i took either a decongestant tablet or a supermarket cold remedy.….……CAFFEINE.….….in large doses in cold cures ‚and decongestants are pseudo ephedrine.….…..oops !!.….……sleeping better now.

And remembering his saying it was better to throw away old food rather than risk an upset tummy ( medical term) and that if it was eaten it would be gone anyway , i threw out the food leftover from Christmas day, then had to have an omelet for my evening meal, i hate eggs, but It was really quite good.

Yes my English teacher did tell me never to start a sentence with and or but.….…so Mr Brignall, sorry.

not depressed… just sad

It is not depression as such but a deep overwhelming sadness that gets a grip every so often , it is something that has to be got through , these major events like birthdays and Christmas. , it is not all the time just a very small part of each day.and i have had some lovely times this festive season, i have had all sorts of interesting visitors and have visited all sorts of people ( some interesting ) and have even managed a bit of the quiet i wanted, i don’t believe it does me any harm this sitting slightly wallowing in memories, it is still less than 11 months. i does seem a bit churlish i suppose to be irritated by the amazing number of widowers and divorced men who seen to wish to take me out to lunch, but irritated i am.

two thousand and eight is going to be great.….….….…how’s that for positive thinking

25 December 2007">Entry for 25 December 2007

they arrived safely from London at 11.30p.m. the fog had been very bad making the drive miserable.…the airports had to cancel lots of flights and 1000 people were stuck at gatwick.

last night ( Christmas eve ) we all walked to the Sherbrook Castle hotel and had a great dinner.……so glad the good chef was still there.

today was a lovely day , phone calls from excited grandsons of all ages, and nice phone calls and text messages from friends .one of the gifts i received is an hour quad bike safari in Perth (Scotland).from www.intotheblue.co.uk yippee !.

the visitors went out at about midday an i had my wonderful quiet day watching rubbish television and a DVD of Helen Mirren being the Queen, made myself a Christmas dinner of turkey and all the trimmings, nothing more onerous to do than feed the upstairs fish.

excellent day

Happy Christmas everyone
