las vagas

The last time i saw anything that looked like the photo was some years ago when? driving from Dauville to Le Touquet, we suddenly saw the Eiffell Tower ahead.….….…this had to be wrong as both those places are on the north coast of france and paris is about a third of the way inland..oops!!.….….…this sort of thing happened a lot when driving around europe with Basil, we would get deep into conversation and miss signs, fortunately as we were not on any kind of schedule it did not matter where we ended up. life with him was quite and adventure.

anyway this version of the tower was in Las Vagas, there seemed to be egypt and italy in the same street.? the town wasn’t as tawdry as i had expected and was wonderfully clean,.…..

.….….…tomorrow night i am attending a Dinner/Ball in aid of the Hope charity , the one all the trekking was for, and one of the things that has been given us to auction for the? charity is a weekend in Las Vagas , business class flights, staying at the venetian hotel and tikets for Barry Manilow plus meeting him afterwards.….…..

now had it been Neil Diamond i might have been tempted to bid.

I am in London staying with Abigail etc.? younger granddaughter and i had fun last night trying on our dresses.

the boiler is broken and has to be replaced.….…maybe we should all decamp to a hotel :-)

it was minus 6 last night and all is lovely and frosty.

think i will go shopping now, see if there is anything worth buying as? christmas presents.……Marisa has done all hers already.….….…..if there is nothing to be found in London? perhaps i will go to Copenhagen , there are some beautiful shops there. coming back via Nicola’s to give wee Nathan his second birthday present.

on the way out

we worried , Jill and I for most of the two days in the middle of our trek about how we would manage the climb out, i can walk for miles on a flat or downhill path but it was? nine miles of a gentle slope upwards then a mile on very steep uphill.? some of the party opted to go out on horseback, but i can’t make the bloody things move when i sit on them, some of us? thought about chartering a helicopter.….….…not as expensive as you might think between 6 people.….…..but the Havasupai tribe said it didn’t fly on Wednesdays. so we just decided to walk out leaving an hour before everybody else.and that is what we did.….….…I was still the last out of the canyon, but at exactly the time the guides ?wanted us all out so it wasn’t to bad.….…meanwhile , those who had opted for the horses got flown out by?helicopter as the horses turned up minus saddles. I am pleased to have completed the whole challenge though

On what would have been Basil’s birthday i was clinging to a?rock-face by two sets of fingernails and the toe of one boot.….……” another fine mess you got me in ” i said. .….…he used to say i looked like Stan Laurel? sometimes when i smiled at him.? I have brought back a small piece of rock from the bottom of the canyon to put on his gravestone.….…..i asked?some ?members of the tribe if i might take a bit of their land to? my land, they thought it a great idea.

I feel different.…I don’t know if it?is the ‘closure’ of the stone setting or if it is the achievement of the? challenge? but i am definitely changed.……i am still missing him and talking to him? but i am not so miserable, somehow i feel he is at rest.….…it has been 9 months.

Grand Canyon it is? not, today i decided that having got fit for the trek i should remain fit , .….…..especially as there is already talk of the next challenge.…… so i dragged ex-husband on a long walk in Mugdock country park , Milngavie the photo is of solar panels i spotted on top of an ancient castle.

it is getting cold here tonight, i think i smell snow in the air.

tired tonight as? grandchild phoned at 2:30 a.m.? I think i will get an early night in case it happens again :-) )

hot water and ring

Well i could have sworn on a stack of bibles that i had left the ring on my old bedside table.….….…remember some months ago i was distraught at the loss of my engagement ring, well today i was trying to make my hair all elegant? for the charity ball? next week and was also trying to find a necklace that would look nice with the ball gown, and there it was nestling among the junk jewelry? so it is now on my finger again and there it will remain.

the ball is in aid of the hope charity? , it will be nice to see the trekkers all clean and sparkly.

didn’t find a suitable necklace though. M&S had the perfect shoes but not in my size , never mind it will all resolve itself in time .

Anyway, today’s two photos are me ‚in dark blue, my stepson in law Ian Fagelson,? in the lighter shorts ‚and i think his name is David Gold, who got a wee bit lost on the way out and had to do an extra mile and a half.….…..and he still managed to beat me out of there by miles :-) .the second on is the middle one of a series of hot pools? kept in place by sand bags , the water was just like a hot bath it was lovely, i could have stayed there all day.this did not prepare us for the coldness of the rivers we had to wade across later in the trek.

went to Ikea with Marisa yesterday?, as in order to make the outside of my house lighter on these dark nights i had put a brighter bulb? in the light , bad idea, it melted the other bulb and the? shade and also fused half of the indoor lights, oops!?… my older two grandsons? Peter and Cameron? sons of Marisa are these photos
