tigers on vaseline

Was at a David Bowietigers-on-vaseline.jpg tribute band tonight somewhere in the middle of town, they were called ’ Tigers on Vaseline ’ and were amazingly good.my ears are still ringing. went with them upstairs and a crowd of their friends.

this morning a nice walk around the loch in Strathclyde park , approx 4 miles i think, and a bowl of lovely soup in their tea room for lunch.

then thought i ought to do something useful so i dealt with a few bills.…there are always bills.…..hunted for my travel insurance documents , that took a while because they were right in front of my nose. this was the second copy i had lost so i photocopied them once i had found them and put copies in my travel case and in my car and odd places like that.

contacted someone i had fed once a week about 40 years ago when she was an impoverished medical student, having found her email address on a university website, she had been given a lifetime achievement award, hope she replies.

think i will sleep well tonight with all sorts of exercise been done today

lost boy

He went off trustingly into the car park with a total stranger did the wee boy of about 6 today, all she had to say to him was “have you lost your mummy ? ” and off he went.….….I knew she was an employee of Tesco because i had alerted her to the fact there was a child increasingly frantically searching for his mum .….….what i really want to know is , why was there not an equally frantic parent searching for him.

That photo is all my rubbish being taken away in the skipskipping.jpg which arrived surprisingly early this morning…i had to rush out in my dressing gown to move the car from the driveway causing a passing motorist to toot cheerfully as i made a dash for the front door.

Gordon phoned from Denmark tonight while i was putting an Ikea coffee table together, Which one ? asks he . so he got his danish ikea catalogue and i got my Scottish one and they were , apart from the language, identical so he was able to see photos of the bookcase cupboard things i am going to put together next.

My hair is very curly.it is my own fault I was in Basil’s cousin’s hairdressing salon.….i had only popped in to say hello.….there were people in there getting their hair straightened and i said i had always wanted curly hair. ” right ‚sit there and i will give you a perm” says she and she did. it is difficult to make it tidy , people seem to like it but how i am going to make it look good on a camping trip in the grand canyon in the company of dozens of American lawyers. that will teach me not to be content. It is an excellent perm though.

Andy warhol with laura

Today found me in Edinburgh sitting on the steps of the Scottish National Gallery waiting for my God-daughter Laura we were going to the Andy Warhol exhibition. attack-of-the-pillow-people.jpgI arrived in Edinburgh early and went to the famous Jenner’s store, i defy anyone not to get lost in that shop, it is labyrinthine, but has a nice restaurant with tasty food.

The exhibition was good , i looked at them and thought, ’ I could do that’ but it is not the work ‚it is in the innovative ideas that the artistic talent lies.

came home via Linlithgow just in case a couple of friends i hadn’t seen for a while were home but they were out , so i came home,

Abigail had sent me a ball that lights up and changes colour, him upstairs and i played catch with it in the dark garden and drove his dogs to a frenzy trying to catch it, they did every so often and the sight of a dog speeding around the garden trying to evade capture with a mouth full of changing colour light was hilarious.

i was throwing out an old coffee table with a top made of smoked glass and hexagonal shape.….him upstairs is making an internal window out of it in his hall way.….sounds odd but it will make a dark hall interesting and light.

my skip is full and my garden and garage tidy.

yesterday Marisa and i ordered 3 large bookshelves one coffee table and a large rug from Ikea to be delivered tomorrow so it is out with the Allen key and back to constructing things again. yippee !!

BBC Glasgow film festival">BBC Glasgow film festival

It was the best fun i have had free for a long time.……the BBC put on a film festival in Glasgow Green , a large open air venue beside the river Clyde, it started at 14:00. and finished with two huge outdoor screens showing spider man 3 starting at 19:30 and finishing at 22:00. i was home by 22:06. the film was just a bit of fun and i wouldn’t have chosen to see it but i enjoyed the daftness of sitting on slightly damp grass during occasional bouts of drizzle with lots of other Glaswegians of all ages watching a big screen . watching-spiderman.jpgthe photo is people watching the film.

there were all sorts of things going on . i watched a buster Keaton silent film while a man played piano all the way through. and i listened to talks by screen writers and directors, there wasn’t a moment in all that time that i was wondering what to do. People were walking around with the most convincing bloody wounds on their faces, and cyberman from Dr. Who wandered among the people as if they owned the planet. there was a ’ big band’ playing music on the stage that the ‘proms in the park’ used last night , all in all a good day. Basil would have loved the music and the atmosphere. i took a photo of a young lady creating bubbles and have emailed it to her . bubbles.jpgshe likes it and is forwarding it to her friends.….……If you double click on the photos they get bigger.

should go to bed now as Marisa and i are going shopping for bookshelves tomorrow.

done it

I have done it , .gathered papers together for the tax man. done all sorts of small niggly wee bits of paper work. written and posted some letters, attached my printer to the computer and printed out my ticket for tomorrows BBC day at Glasgow green. tidied up all the bits and pieces lying about that i had cleared out of my mother’s house. ordered a skip for the rubbish which has been accumulating at the side of the house due to my massive clear out. i feel so much better now.

well i did feel better then the last night of the proms started on telly and it was the first time i had watched it alone since meeting Basil so i got a bit sad , but fortunately them upstairs were away so i turned up the volume to loud enough to wake the dead and sang along to land of hope and glory and all the other old favourites…still it didn’t seem as good as it used to be.maybe that was just me though.

slept too well last night after all that fresh air so now i am not tired tonight but it is ten minutes to one in the morning so i suppose i had better go to bed.
