Mak­ing the bed.…from scratch.….….…AND after all the phone calls and hunt­ing down the miss­ing screws, when i finally put the thing together i did not need the extra screws it was a mis­print in the list of con­tents of the box. any­way it looks good and guests will have some­thing to sleep on.

I hoped i was at least slightly mem­or­able but this after­noon, the son of the man who fit­ted my en-suite bath­room sud­denly turned up at the front door with the mir­ror and said they had for­got­ten about me and were won­der­ing what the mir­ror was that was lay­ing about their work­shop. it is now fixed to the wall so i can see myself brush my hair at last.

tonight i went along to the queens park cam­era club, it was inter­est­ing and a nice jolly lot of people. they had a raffle and i won a bottle of wine, which was embarrassing .

a. because it was my brother-in –law who drew the ticket

and

b. i was not a mem­ber of the club.….….so i am now a mem­ber of the club .

so i shall soon have a photo ID card stat­ing that i am a ‘bona fide’ mem­ber of a cam­era club in case people won­der why i am pho­to­graph­ing pigeons in the park.

In the morn­ing i drive to Chip­pen­ham and the next day we all go to Centre Parks in Nor­mandy (France) meet­ing up with their old friends from when they lived in Glasgow.…..lots of very small chil­dren .…what fun.

so i may not be blog­ging for a few days

do i learn from my siatica…no i don’t , this time it was prim­roses , lillys and hebes,

i , hav­ing got fed up with the spare bed being in many pieces all over the floor phoned up he sup­plier of it and said either they got the miss­ing 10 screws to me asap or i would send the whole thing back and charge them stor­age for all the time it has been use­less. so they said go and buy the bits and we will repay you ( we shall see if that hap­pens). so i went and got the bits in B&Q and they were hav­ing a plant sale , so i have been plant­ing again.

i haven’t put the bed together yet.

i have two juicy bits of gos­sip that Basil would have loved, we only gos­sipped to each other and never passed it on but he did like to hear it , it kept him in touch with the out­side world. . now i have nobody to pass it on to , ah well.

book­cases haven’t fallen to bits yet.

it is my own fault , i can’t res­ist a bar­gain, today it was 24 small plants for 20p, so i got 48 of them and added to the 24 i had got earlier that was 72 and i don’t even like the plants much .….… now i have sci­at­ica but my hanging bas­kets and patio pots look lovely.

also been paint­ing so my hands are all painty and dry.….…what will i do for ’ dis­place­ment activ­ity’ when i have fin­ished all this refurbishment.

have been read­ing the shop­ping list of things i need for the great grand canyon trek, it reminds me of all the things we had to get the girls at the start of school term, i.e. hockey boots.i don’t recall them ever being worn. i seem to need swim­ming shoes. i can’t make up my mind whether to take a pil­low or just use my back pack for one . am get­ting quite excited.

per­haps watch­ing a film last night about a scout team and their scout mas­ter get­ting ill in freak hot weather and one of them dying dur­ing a grand canyon trek was a mistake.……i think i will make my last will and testament.

Been put­ting together these book shelves this week­end accord­ing to the instruc­tions there should have been 16 bolts and 16 nuts but there were only 15 of each in two of the three flat packs yet when i put the sup­posedly identical book cases together one used 16 and two used 15.….…i left the doors off one of them delib­er­ately to give it a bit of shape. those are only a few of my books there are morei must get read­ing instead of play­ing speedy bubbles, tonight’s score was one hun­dred and forty nine thou­sand nine hun­dred and forty five.

have sold the wee flat my mother had , good thing really as i have spent all my money renov­at­ing this house and am now eat­ing my way through the store cup­board. the buyer doesn’t want to move in till Decem­ber so i don’t have to clear out the rest of the fur­niture just yet thank good­ness. it sold in one week, there are two other flats for sale in the same block that have been on the mar­ket for a few weeks but they are being greedy and want too much, i didn’t buy mine to make a profit but to have some­where for my ancient par­ent to be safe but inde­pend­ent so i have asked a fair price and got it imme­di­ately. one worry less hoo­ray. espe­cially as they had under­es­tim­ated the cost of the out­side paint­ing of it and it is now going to be well over one thou­sand pounds per flat ‚grrr!!!

tonight i went to a pub­lic meet­ing in the local church , the police and the MSP and local coun­cil­lors were there to dis­cuss anti­so­cial beha­viour and speed­ing in the area, traffic calm­ing meas­ures were dis­cussed. it is needed the boy racers whizz up and Down this street at huge speeds. it will be a shame it they mess up this beau­ti­ful wide street but it is bet­ter that than a dead teen­age driver or hap­less ped­es­trian who got in the way.

i have left what little money i have (after the great refur­bish­ment ) where it lives in the North­ern Rock build­ing soci­ety. mine is prob­ably the only account left by now.….it shows how easy it is for a run on the bank to be started.
