chaos

I have worked so hard.….….and the whole house is in chaos.jpgchaos apart from the spare bedroom which is ready for JJ coming sometime this week.

every inch of the lounge has been painted and several inches of me in the process but i had plastered on a thick layer of hand cream and let it dry before i started so that all the paint washed off easily as it didn’t get near my skin. they are coming to put down the new floor on Tuesday so i thought i would get all the decorating done so that any spills wouldn’t matter.……this is the one time i didn’t splash .…..anyway it is done but all the books are in heaps on the floor and i have hundreds of them and the pictures are leaning against walls . also a man came today and removed the old fireplace which was a cheap modern horror and was too dangerous to use and hopefully a nice new marble one will go in next week, and a nice new marble one is going in the dining room too, it doesn’t have a fire at the moment just a horrid before1.jpgair vent in the wall.

nice visitors yesterday braved my chaos and persuaded me to join Queens Park Camera club, who knows i might just do that if i have time to fit it into this ‘quiet’ life.

and a cat came into the house today i don’t know who was the more startled.

my dyslexia is bad tonight, i must be tired

awake again

it is 03:27 a.m. and i am wide awake, thank heavens for BBC radio 4 i have been listening to reports on what is going on at the Edinburgh festival amongst other things, it has whetted my appetite and i will try to fit a wee trip over there into my quiet life, i have been wondering what to do on August 27th which would have been our wedding anniversary, i intend to do something that is not dealing with paper work or house painting or anything useful on that day any suggestions would be welcome. one daughter has suggested a session of raki (or however it is spelled).…..someone else suggested a trip to Dublin, that might be fun i could hunt for the odd ancestor while there but i have to be here the day after as JJ is staying the night he will probably want to go and see hairspray again he likes to do exactly the same thing every time.

worked very hard today, now the wonderful decorative cornice looks grubby so i shall have to paint it tomorrow, it is a horrid job as the ceiling is very high and the cornice very intricate, ah well i will feel very virtuous when it is done.

better post this blog before battery goes, it doesn’t last very long any more.

p.s. the battery went just as i posted it ‚phew!!

i am going to read my last Harry Potter , i have been resisting it till now.

All mimsy were the borogroves

i have been a little blue over the weekend so no blog but i got a huge amount of housework done and am very cheerful now as today has been a very good day.

my fingers are covered in dried paint as i forgot to let a thick coat of hand cream dry on them before i started..well i didn’t mean to do all that painting but i had to do the skirting board before the new floor goes down and that made the rest of the woodwork look dingy so i painted till i ran out of paint…there were a lot of breaks in the work though while i chatted with friends and neighbours , i did forget to have morning coffee and lunch but i managed two afternoon teas and several pieces of chocolate. and a daughter phoned up and suggested i might like to join them on a trip to centre parks in France where there would be lots of things for the children to do and then a couple of days in an hotel eating lots of things french.

the decorator is going to redo the room that they made such a mess of , he had employed a man without checking why he had left his last job.

i wondered last night how many people in Britain ran to look up the work ‘mimsy’ when the advertised the film ‘the last mimsy’ i didn’t rush to look up the word

a. because i was too lazy

and

b. because i was pretty certain it was a word made up and found only in the poem Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll.

i still have lots of paperwork to do concerning my mother but i cant find any of them as all the furniture from the room that they were in is scattered all over the house so that a floor can be laid and i cant find any bits of paper at all.

still can’t find the thingy to take the photos out of my camera so no picture tonight

tired now.

old school friend and old school

for Quiet life this one is getting busy. this morning a man came to measure my floors so that i can have nice ’ new ’ antique oak wood in the lounge and dining room and a nice cream carpet in my bedroom. and then went and chose a nice marble fire place as there is only a tiny bent grill in the wall where the fire place should be , he comes out to inspect my chimney tomorrow.

then Jan , whom i knew when we were 10 years old in North Harrow and who got in touch through friends reunited a couple of years ago, phoned and said she was up in Perth on holiday and could we meet, she would come by train to Edinburgh to feel a bit of the excitement that is the Edinburgh festival, i said OK as soon as i had fed the upstairs dogs and let them have a run in the garden .…..him upstairs was away for the day.….….. i would get the train through to Edinburgh, parking being such sweet sorrow in Edinburgh at the moment, anyway she missed her train and it wasn’t worth her going to Edinburgh for such a sort time so i went up to Perth .it is a lovely drive.….…..and took her to Blairgowrie where i was at school for a few years and we had a wonderfully tasty meal in a bistro and a walk round, even visiting my old school, ?it was a beautiful evening, then?I took her back to Perth and got home to Glasgow at twenty minutes past midnight.

photos to follow when i can find the wee thingy to upload them.

perils of getting the decorator in

Now i remember just why it is that i do all my home decorating myself.….the dining room needed professional work done on it as the wall where the old wardrobe s were fitted was a mess so i got in a team of decorators and the spare bedroom needed freshening up so i got them to do that room as well , an easy job that usually i would do myself but i was feeling tired and it was so easy to say just do that room too.……well as you can see from the picture grrr.jpgthe guy hat painted the louvre doors to the wardrobe didn’t put a dust sheet over the clothes inside and i now have stripey winter clothes. and the wallpaper he put on is not properly hung. so no more decorators for me .

tired today due to staying up late last night watching a film..silly me.
