long day

yesterday i felt too ill to blog or indeed do anything, them upstairs left a bowl of homemade spaghetti bolognaise on my doorstep which i ate with great relish. this is the fifth dose of the common cold i have had since Basil died, i never had as many before.

collected Gordon at Glasgow Central station at 7.15 am he flew from Aalborg to London and came up on last nights sleeper train.

we went to see mother , she now is breathing fast but shallowly, her eyes are half open but she doesn’t seem to see anything then we walked to the shops as he wanted a newspaper and i had run out of milk.

collected his daughter Laura from queen street station and went back to sit with mother, no change in her for better or worse.

the workmen have finished my en suite bathroom so i can have my bedroom back thank heavens as i was going to have to sleep on the floor otherwise.….there is no door on it yet as the wardrobe man is going to put matching doors on it and build the wardrobes either side of it.

it looks great though.

them we took Laura to the station there was thunder and lightning but no rain., we dropped her at the station and were on the way to get a carry out curry when she phoned Gordon’s mobile and said there were no trains as there had been a landslide on to the track, she walked to the bus station but i said i would drive her to Edinburgh which was a good thing as all the buses were full and there was a huge queue.….…..so we went to Edinburgh and dropped her in Hanover street where her boyfriend was waiting and we went for a pizza, i was very hungry by then , it tasted great.

not feeling too bad but ooh my head aches.

Under the Floor Boards

every-home-should-have-one.jpgevery home should keep a plumber under the floorboards .

work going on apace but they have broken their drill. i wish it was finished , i am not in the mood for all this disruption, they had to get under my floor by going under the hallway of the upstairs flat and they have not put the floorboards back properly so now i have to confront them with it and also watch them to make sure they do the ones in the corner of my room properly or i will leap out of bed and fall through the floor.

phoned brother Gordon in Denmark tonight as i have a feeling that ancient parent is not going to last much longer, her deterioration is now marked. so he is looking up flights on the Internet.

babies have definitely given me the common cold.

the babies have gone leaving me with the usual dose of the common cold, they are amazing carriers of germs are children.

work has begun on my en suite bathroom it seems huge but the bedroom is still big enough thank goodness.tonight i shall sleep in the spare room now vacated by visitors , it will be like being on holiday , spending the night in a different room.

so i sat sown with my glass of chilled Pinot Grigot Rose.thinking piece at last, and the phone rang , they are worried about my mother again, she is asleep most of the time now , and they think she has got worse again, i had kept the babies away as i didn’t want them to give her any of their germs, i hope i am not carrying any common cold germs because i had to go and see what she looked like.

boy racers

speed-versus-wall.jpgthis is what happens when very young inexperienced drivers find a nice long ‚wide straight road,i was already on my feet dialling 999 before the impact as there was no way he could not hit something, and that was just from the sound of his engine, i was being visited a brother in law who was testing to see if he could get online with his laptop using my wireless connection.….…he said he had never seen anybody move so fast .…i was out of the door just as the car turned over.….….the boy ‚i think OK, there was blood oozing from under his turban, another neighbour managed to get the door open injuring his arm in the process the young driver is a Sikh, maybe the extra padding of a turban has saved him from head injury.i hope so.

otherwise a peaceful day as the babies etc are off to my ex husband’s mother’s 90th birthday party, but piece will be shattered soon as they are on their way back.

i have been clearing things out of the way as work is supposed to start on Monday installing en suite in my bedroom.

off to watch Dr. Who now.….…..if i get a chance.

of the lake district etc.,

girl-on-top.jpgconcentration.jpgI have been back in the land of the kilt for a week and am expecting the smallest grandsons and gtheir parents tonight so there has been much? making of beds and removal of sharp objects and nuts.

It was a good trip down south,a few days in Chippenham with the littlest ones, visited a butterfly farm, one attached itself to Nicola and didnt want to let go.

?then to London for Jonathan’s 18th. we went to see ‘Wicked’ it was so bad i enjoyed it, to come out of a musical singing songs from a different musical must mean something. Judith lost the house keys so ian had to break into the house when we got back, fortunately there were ladders about as the windows were being painted. Party was a great success .…. the? BBQ ordered on the internet hadnt arrived so ian had to go and buy one, it was huge and in many many pieces, when i arrived? it was spread out on the terrace? and Abby was on the phone to the shop saying it had no legs.….…..i found the legs and the girls and i ‚in our party finery and in the blazing sun assembled it all, apart from 3 screws,

Basil’s ex wife? came and told us how to do it even though?

?a. she was wrong.

?b. she hadnt read the instructions and

c. she didnt offer to help, thank god.

we managed it in plenty of time and it with the help of ian produced some very tasty food.

the original one arrived 3 days later.

went into the oxo tower brasserie? for lunch on monday and then went on the london eye.

revision was done for exams in the tent the day after the party’ and we went to Channings, judiths-artwork.jpgthe girls school to see Judith’s art work, i was very impressed.

wednesday up to the lake district to join them upstairs? and get fit for the trek, got fitted out with boots and walking clothes , girl-on-top.jpgwent? on a couple of five hour walks some of them virtical.? one gentle one was called ’ cats bells’ a corruption of? a word for field of wild cats.

i informed him upstairs that i hated him a few times when ever i could catch my breath.

went to the cinema in Keswick to see pirates of the carribean 3 it was like being transported into the 1960’s .

came home in time for garden party at ancient parent’s home but she had a collapse half an hour before it? so we sat in her room , she asleep and me singing along to the live band , they were playing such things as country and western and elvis.

ah well must see if the aeroplane is? on time.
