Three bags full

I have been trying to pack for a strange trip.

a. a few days spent in the company of the stickyness that is a three year old and a one year old.

b. a trip to a West end of London show and an 18th birthday party and a london hotel.

c. a few days clambering around the damp hills that are the Lake District around Keswick, in an attempt by my neighbours to get me fit for the great grand canyon trek.…..i feel there might be a slight difference between the lake district and Arizona.

i have got him upstairs to check my tyre pressure .….too low.….… and i have attached my sat nav, and packed a map book :-) and i shall set off when i feel in the mood, the traffic will be heavy tomorrow because of the bank holiday finishing but there should be fewer heavy lorries. so we shall see how i feel.

a different loss

I am distraught.….…a couple of years after we were married he phoned a shop he knew i was in and said “if you go round to San remo jewellers there is a ring waiting for you”.….……we hadn’t had an engagement ring and he wanted me to have one. so i went and collected it. very romantic it was.

i have lost it.

i took it off just after he died and laid it on my bedside table as i was not feeling like wearing rings and i remember then next day wondering where it was but thought it was under a book or something. well i have searched all day . i have emptied all the drawers and boxes and bags everywhere, even the attic. it must have got knocked into the waste paper basket or gone up the vacuum cleaner of something. how could i be so careless of it.

efficiency

Hot Dogs.….….….….no dogs were hurt in the making of that photographhot-dogs.jpg they were hanging around hoping for leftovers from last nights BBQ, it had got a bit colder so we had put some logs on top of the charcoal to make a nice warm fire. had an efficient day today.this morning went to Ikea to get a bathroom cabinet for Nicola and to return some door handles that i had bought when i thought i might build my own wardrobes. and managed to be there at lunchtime, clever me. then i phoned and arranged annual travel insurance so i can take off into the wide blue yonder whenever i feel like it. phoned the Scottish power people and put the account in my name and gave them the readings because the website had refused to believe my figures, Basil felt cold all the time so our power bill was very high and now it should be much less..i hope. put all the various house insurances in my name. let the TV licence people know that i am not yet 75 so am not entitled to the free licence he had. updated the air miles account .it had been 11 years since i had done that and there are enough air miles for a nice wee trip somewhere. chased up the health insurance who were being slow about my health insurance. defrosted the freezer and threw out lots of old frozen food that has been in there too long. oh what an exciting life i lead.

reunions

LenaBasil would have loved reuniting with her she is great fun, , the lady in the photograph, she ( Lena now 77 ) is the one i found on the Internet, she had given him a book on modern American humour for his 20th birthday and he hadn’t spoken to her for 60 years till i found her and she and Basil talked on the phone a few times and caught up on the 60 years.….…..yesterday she phoned to say she was flying up to Glasgow today from London to see her 90 year old sister and could i meet her so i did, totally forgetting to find out where . but magically i found where she was, i did look skywards and say “you got me into this ‚you find her” and there was the old age home right in front of me.spooky.

then i collected niece Laura and boy friend from queen street station and we had lunch them visited my mother she was looking better but didn’t make much sense.

so we went to visit Marisa and the boys, her father was there as well so it was a good reunion for Laura and him as well as he hadn’t seen her for 3 years.

then i get home and them upstairs said bar-b-q tonight ? so we did.

they now have 2 dogs as they got a new one from the rescue place yesterday.

i was so tired this morning that i didn’t want to get up.….….….….…

i am even more tired now
