starting the trek

On the first day, after meeting up in?the??car-park?of the Amerisuites hotel in Las Vagas?on what they called a warm up trek of 10 miles, ?i thought i would not be able to get back to the car park, a mixture of heat, dehydration and the fact that my time zone was 8 hours ahead so my body thought it was in the middle of the night, also though i am fit enough to walk many miles on flat ground or downhill, i have trouble breathing?? on any kind of slope, perhaps it is the asthma which has just been diagnosed, my lung capacity seems to be 300 or less? which is not good, anyway, the guide? filled? his wonderful hat with water and put it on my head.….…instant revival.….. and? it made it? back to the others. one other member of the trek was? worse than i was and opted out of the rest of the walking, i offered to do the same in case i caused problems for the rest of the group but they said i would manage fine , and so i did. apart from being the last out on the last day despite Jill and i setting out an hour earlier than the rest? so that we could take it slowly.

then we went to a motel??on the famous route 66 and had a lovely buffet meal and? a very comfortable room.

next morning off to the trail head .….….…..oooh ! the state of the loos

and it is down hill all the way from there for 8 miles to the Havasupai village and another two miles after that to our camp a lovely walk though i was tired by the time we reached the village and and enjoyed a sit down and? sending? postcards by pony express to the grandchildren.…..i am the one in dark blue at the top of this pic.

enough for today i am tired as i have been shopping for shoes to go with my ball gown.……that’s another story
