Magnetic Properties of a Teaspoon

Why are teaspoons not magnetic. it is slightly magnetic but not enough to be fished out of the overflow in my kitchen sink. that is what he,young Aiden (2) was up to while ‘helping’ with the washing up. it has been down there for 3 weeks , i have tried a pair of spencer wells forceps, a grabber thingie that old people use to lift up dropped things, an assortment of slender implements and a magnet stuck to the end of a screwdriver. the teaspoon may well be there till the kitchen falls to pieces, that Belfast sink was a mistake, looks nice but is awkward to clean.
basil very tired, was cheered up by a visit from old friend today but then got cross because old friend was talking about basil’s ex wife and basil has been realizing a few things lately about things that were done by ex-wife all those years ago. so he is now very tired again.
