A New Cast
Well what a surprise that was,
all i had with me was a mobile phone and an ipod. i didn’t want to be carrying anything as i am a bit wobbly on the crutches.
on Wednesday morning i Had an appointment at outpatients to get an new plaster cast on my ankle as it was loose due to swelling subsiding.
i get there nice and early and am seen almost instantly, good i think i will get back in time to see the wee boys all dressed up for a wedding they were going to.
huh fat chance
they cut off the old cast. they put on nice new quick drying one, then the xray to make sure it is in position….it is in perfect position but by then the consultant has decided that it might never heal properly and he wants to put two screws in to keep it in place. we will send you up to a ward now……..”what ? now” says i ‚” can’t i go home and get some things”. “we might lose the bed says he “…..when a hospital has a bed you grab it quick. so up i go to be admitted from Wednesday day till probably Saturday and all i have is the clothes i am wearing and an ipod and phone.
i am lucky, they like the idea of a quad biking granny and give me a nice side room with television all to my self so i am not too bored just stunned and not being home drinking tea.
brother in law goes and buys me books, toothpaste soap etc. and i feel more human.
the daughters confer
one is at a wedding. the other on her way back from holiday.
she gets back from holiday phones hospital and asks what i need…….T shirts say i , the hospital is very hot.she goes off to asda and gets all sorts of exciting things and so an hour later son in law turns up with all the things a person might need. made me feel much better.
then they move me out of my nice room into an large ward where three women talk loudly to themselves all night.
more about that later .or not
but the stay in ward 4 of the Victoria Glasgow was delightful, everybody seemed to enjoy working there and they were all great fun.
