For those who wanted to visit, this is the newsletter with details

.….….there may be silence from me now for a week due to being in the depths of a French forest

2008 GDPU Exhibition Newsletter

Results now in! On Sunday 13 January 2008 the judging of all sections of the GDPU Exhibition was held in Netherton Community Centre, Wishaw. The Club and Beginners sections were judged by Richard Speirs DPAGB from Morton PS in Carlisle. Richard is an executive member of the Northern Counties Federation, judge, lecturer and PAGB Awards selector.

The GDPU organization once again was commended with Richard speaking on behalf of the three judges by stating that ” the organization and hospitality left nothing to be desired!”

In the Salon section, Richard was joined by Gerry Tomkinson from Midlothian and Malcolm Allan from Bishopbriggs both experienced judges in their own right. Collectively they viewed over 200 entries in the Salon and after the judging, all congratulated the GDPU exhibition team for one of the best GDPU exhibition competitions ever! “Overall, an inspirational collection of some of the best in modern Scottish photographic art” said Richard Speirs.

Richard was most impressed that the Exhibition would be shown to over 10,000 daily visitors to the Prince???s Square Shopping Mall in Glasgow, commenting that any author who had work exhib-ited was very fortunate in having such a venue, a true reflection of the quality and standard of the GDPU Exhibition.

Salon? A very comprehensive range of subjects that showed the quality of light. It was good to see such maturity in the manipu-lated images rather than the novelty of digital manipulation.

Thanks to the GDPU for inviting me and being made so welcome.

Malcolm Allan

Beginners A very high standard from the beginners with an excellent range from monochrome, portraiture, still life and landscapes.

Richard Speirs

Salon? Great selection of prints of a very high standard. Has been a pleasure to judge the GDPU Salon and the images have helped me develop new ideas for my own photography.

Gerry Tomkinson

? GDPU 2008

Salon A very varied collection of subjects the majority being of high technical quality. Many authors had captured the subtleties of the Scottish landscape and lighting.

Richard Speirs

The GDPU Exhibition runs from Saturday 23 February until Sunday 9 March inclusive in the Princes Square Shopping Mall, Glasgow.
