thank you letter from Marisa smyth.….…we won
Hi Everyone
I though you would all like to know that this afternoon the Department of Health have capitulated. All future Change4life campaign material is to be reworded and that particularly damaging television advert is being reworded. One of the first media articles on the subject is here - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/4229149/Obesity-campaign-to-be-changed-due-to-bullying-charge.html
I would like to thank all of you for your support and signing the petition. In the last five days a core group of around twenty of us, actively backed by around 150 others, and with the support of many hundreds more, have bombarded the Advertising Standards Authority, the Department of Health, all major corporate sponsors of the campaign, any MP/Lord/journalist that would listen, DUK, and every large local and regional newspaper in the UK. We have sent them reactions from children and parents, along with posters that the children have made. I will attach some of them to give you an idea of how this has affected our children. We took on the government and won. I can’t quite believe it!
I am now going to have (another)
large glass of wine, and maybe a wee cry!
Thanks again for all of the support
Marisa xx
I(Fiona) will upload the attachments later when i can work out how to do it as it has opened in work and i can’t find my discs to enter the product key so it wont let me cut and paste them to the blog.….…..please feel free to sign the petition if you still haven’t , just to let them know the volume of interest.

As you have put this up here I have to say special thanks to Becca Gumble, mum of Rose who is six, who has spearheaded this campaign. We have just done what she asked us to do. Also to Fred for the petition. Thanks from all of us

Ooh yes - sorry, I’m forgetting my manners. Blame it on the glass of celebratory wine. I know a lot of people who read this blog signed the petition, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much.
